A very silly Christmas!

We all agreed this was the silliest and funniest Christmas we could remember. We laughed and wore silly hats, and played silly games. Now it's nearly New Year's Eve and we shall prepare a traditional Danish New Year's Eve meal  for family and friends.
I have wanted to blog before now, but we were down in England for the second week in December and on our return I was busy trying to prepare for Christmas. Family are still here which has been wonderful especially as all three of our children decided they will stay for New Year's Eve.
I would just like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their kind and encouraging comments on this blog. I think it amazing to have met so many varied and interesting people and while we may never have met in person I feel  I have found friends in many different places and share many interests.
I wish you all a very happy, healthy and peaceful New Year.

It looks like a rather relaxed Christmas to me....well, for the participants in view of the camera, anyway (perhaps not for the photographer).

The New Year celebration meal is interesting! Not my cup of tea, but not surprising it's similar to what I imagine my Icelandic host-daughter will be sitting down to. Fish & potatoes is what I think of as the foundation of the northern coastal diet. I'm guessing you must have a special pan to boil a large fish

oh, and I forgot to say: Thanks so much for your blog! It gives me a really different world to see and enjoy - not just geography either. I'm looking forward to seeing what happens in 2013 in your neck of the woods.

Like you we had fun after the Christmas meal with a pack of 'Literary' moustaches. Loved the photos of the cosy Christmas scene. Great to see what the weather is doing at this time of the year too -we have friends in Ullapool and usually visit in the summer months.
