Coigach Assynt

For me the best place ever. How I love it. Its remoteness, its beauty and its intimacy.

Why should I find it intimate? I don't know and I can't explain it. A group of funny shaped mountains that rise out of nowhere that feel familiar and permanent that have been there since the beginning

The road to Achnahaird

Suilven through the winter haze

The weekend Guardian newspaper featured Assynt in its "Lets move to" series recently

Achnahaird beach. Fortunately its remoteness keeps the crowds at bay - that and the winter I guess! Stac Pollaidh flanked, I think, by Cul Mor on the left and Cul Beag on the right

It's soooooo beautiful and so much of it

The Summer Isles - even in the winter!

Ann, your blog is wonderful! Gorgeous photos and delightful commentary... have you thought of joining Twitter so that you could announce each new post/update? That's how I found a link to you. (It would also allow you to reach a wider audience.)
Thanks for sharing your adventure!

Hello Alison. Somebody new! - how lovely! Thank you for your kind comments on my blog. I'm always surprised amazed and very honoured that people look at this blog. I'm still trying to learn how to use the camera and I'm no writer - but I do enjoy it.
To be honest I'm slightly nervous of Twitter - I don't understand it! If it's anything like facebook it will be terrifying!
But maybe I should give it a try.
You live in Wester Ross too? it's absolutely incredibly beautiful here isn't it - a wonderful place for an artist. Maybe we've passed each other in the aisles at Tesco in Ullapool!

Do I use the word "surreal" every time I visit this blog? Your landscape photos take my breath away and are so beautiful they almost don't seem real. You live a lovely life.
