The last days of summer

It hasn't been the best of summers here it has to be said, but these last few days it's as if summer is giving it its all, a last fling before the nights pull in and we get out our winter woollies....well, we never really put them away!

ju-north it hasn't been a very good summer here as you probably know! But the light and warmth these last few days has been wonderful..

Oh, my goodness! What a collection of images. You have really captured a feeling - one which makes me extremely jealous of your situation.

(Even though deep down I have a feeling that the temperature gauge would be telling me that all is not as it seems in the pictures)

old_black I suppose compared to where you are the temperature may not have seemed so warm but for here 25/26 degrees on some days has seemed blissfully hot..!

I love your photos ... they are really beautiful. do you post them on Pinterest? or I'm not so good with Instagram ... but maybe on there? you have captured the light in some of them so superbly and the close-ups of the butterfly and flowers are really good.

Journeys to Scotland. Thank you, it's always encouraging when somebody says they like someone's photos! I don't post on Pinterest, maybe I should. I did join but then never think to post anything! As for Instagram I would love to have it, but my very old mobile and even older contract doesn't permit it! I have an Olympus camera, I think I saw that you do too? I'm very happy with it, though I'm still learning to use it properly even after three years!

It's like looking back in time. Poppies! Buddleia! Summer days still happening. But you did have a very long wait so it's only fair.
What an elusive summer it has been. Even down here. It's pitch dark at 8.00 now.

Lucille early and late summer have been ok, but the big middle bit has been awful...!

I think the record temperature here in Argyll was 21 degrees and the rainfall according to Benmore Botanic Garden records is hightest since 1931!! Here's to next summer. Love your photgraphs.

Just beautiful. Thank you so much for sharing. The end of August has been such a blessed reminder of warmth, before the cold and darkness begin to creep in.

Thank you Christine. We have misty mornings and the nights are closing in but the middle bit has been sunny and warmish!
