I went down to this loch yesterday to see for myself part of the old road that used to run from Ullapool to Inverness. The story is here. It was amazing and sort of eerie. Very quiet and as if the tide had gone out. It was a warm and sunny day. The road, in-spite of having been under water for so many years compared favourably I thought with the state of many single track roads today in and around the Highlands and Islands! In the months to come no doubt this road with its bridges and remaining telegraph poles will slip away again under a deluge of rain, but for just a brief moment it was a unique experience going backwards in time to a slower single track way of life.

Fascinating! I love these occasional glimpses of what Nature has reclaimed.
