A white Christmas?

At first light the birds were at the feeders.

This morning the snow was just about as perfect as perfect could be - deep and crisp and even. But it's since turned to sleety rain. I'm torn between wanting the snow to get deeper and thicker and being able to get in to Inverness later this afternoon to pick up the first of the family arriving for Christmas.

And talking of Christmas. Do you remember the wood burner this time last year? It's come a long way since then. Robin came last weekend and helped his Dad install it

and Niels was then able to finish laying the floor.  And although the house isn't finished yet
I love it!

How lovely everything looks. And the synchronicity - I had just posted and then came straight over to see you. I'd love to know what you spot at your feeders.

Thank you Lucille - it's getting there, slowly!
Regular visitors to the feeders include Chaffinches, Greenfinches, Goldfinches, Great Tits, Coal Tits, Blue Tits, Long-tailed Tits, Siskins, Dunnocks, Blackbirds, Thrushes, Robins by the dozen and always at a 'stand off!' In the Autumn there was a Brambling and more recently a Great Spotted Woodpecker, only he couldn't quite land on the feeders and hasn't been back. There are many other birds,Cuckoos, Owls, Gulls, Herons, Cormorants, Buzzards, but they don't come to the feeders. Very similar in many ways to the garden birds we had in Surrey, there just seem to be many more of them - with or without the snow.

Great photographs, especially of the birds. That wood burning stove and the flooring look great. Have a great Christmas love Jackie.

Siskins and Bramblings - wonderful. I've never seen a cuckoo. Jays are getting bolder and in the summer we had a Little Owl. A heron once landed in our apple tree. It looked ridiculous. I couldn't believe my eyes.A blackbird mobbed the resident wood pigeons today. Very odd behaviour. Hope your visitors arrived safely.
