Culag Wood

Culag wood is beautiful and in parts very old
full of mosses and lichens and fallen down trees
and tucked away places for children to explore and play
It has a shoreline
foxgloves and heathers
and views that can be seen up above the trees from rocky hilltops
It's well worth a visit. Next time you are in Lochinver you must come and walk in Culag Wood
It's a lovely drive too from Ullapool
especially if you take the slow twisting and turning single track road off the A835 signposted to Achiltibuie and turn right just past Loch Lurgainn. I shall look out for you!

Yes a wonderful area. Is this the wood with the waterfall?
I shall be back in Clachtoll in a month.

I don't think so Adrian. If you click on the words 'Culag Wood' under the first picture it should take you to the website. I've had a look but can't find a reference to a waterfall

I am thinking of the Falls of Kirkaid. They can't be far from the woods.

Not far Adrian. Down a bit from Lochinver near Inverkirkaig If you walk into Suilven you pass the falls of Kirkaig on the way. After heavy rain fall they are spectacular.

We've strolled through these woods - a bit hairy in places but an adventure! Lovely photos!

Just so beautiful. I have fond memories of Achiltibuie and also Lochinver. In both places, it struck me forcefully that not so long ago the sea was the main thoroughfare, not the roads.

HI there. I am visiting from Junorth's blog and really enjoyed your beautiful photography of your trip along the coast. What rugged beauty! Pamela from Canada.
